Privacy policy
Cobalt Medicare has no accounts and no email capture for marketing. The calculator runs entirely in your browser: the income figures you type are never sent to us or stored anywhere. The one form on the site is the contact form, which sends us only what you type into it. The site uses analytics to measure aggregate traffic (Google Analytics sets cookies for this), and once advertising is enabled it will show ads served by Google AdSense, which also uses cookies as described below.
What we collect
Nothing you type. Calculator inputs (income, filing status) are processed in your browser by JavaScript and are not transmitted to our servers.
Standard server logs. Our hosting providers (Railway) and content delivery network (Cloudflare) record standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, used for security and operations and retained per those providers' policies.
Embedded table. When another website embeds our IRMAA bracket table, the table reports the domain name of that website to us so we can count where it is used. It sends nothing else about that website's visitors and sets no cookies; the standard server logs described below still apply to those requests.
Aggregate analytics. We use two tools to understand aggregate traffic. Ahrefs Web Analytics is cookieless and sets no cookies. Google Analytics (GA4) sets first-party cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to count sessions and report aggregate usage such as pages viewed, referrers, and general location and device type; it never receives the income figures you type into the calculator. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
The contact form. When you send a message through the contact page, we receive the name, email address, and message you typed, along with basic technical context (browser, language, timezone, and the page you wrote from, with any query strings removed). It goes to our support system (AcornReply) so we can reply, is used only for handling your message, and is never used for marketing.
Advertising
The site is supported by display advertising. We use, or will use, Google AdSense. Google and its partners are third-party vendors that use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of many third-party advertising cookies at aboutads.info. Where required by law, a consent banner lets you choose whether advertising cookies are used at all; declining still gives you the full site.
Cookies
The site sets first-party analytics cookies through Google Analytics (for example _ga) to measure aggregate traffic; our other analytics tool, Ahrefs, sets none. Advertising, when enabled, may set additional cookies as described above, governed by the consent choices offered in your region.
Third-party links
Pages link to government sources (ssa.gov, cms.gov, federalregister.gov and others) and occasionally to other publishers. Their privacy practices are their own.
Children
The site is a Medicare reference intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from children.
